National Spatial Data Infrastructure vs Cadastre System for Economic Development: Evidence from Pakistan

The growth of Pakistan’s agriculture-based economy depends on elevating agriculture production and raising the per-capita income rural communities. This paper evaluates value two simultaneous initiatives for economic development Pakistan, i.e., (i) reforming modernization cadastre system, (ii) implementation national spatial data infrastructure (NSDI). Both can provide crucial frameworks to assemble geographic information necessary effective policies in country. Their execution at level requires substantial technical, human, finical resources. These mega may become highly challenging, due already shrinking country from COVID-19. study makes use an evaluation framework, official documents, such as project proposals, minutes meetings, addition collected through questionnaire ministries, ministry planning, development, reforms (commonly known planning commission), well Pakistan bureau statistics. Our findings indicate that both projects share some commonalities terms benefits, problems, However, benefits NSDI are high compared country, especially agricultural policy-making. results output will help practitioners systems reduce overlapping value, cost, scope work involved.
